Scott Sampson, President. For over 25 years, Scott Sampson has offered an individualistic, client-centered approach to asset management and financial planning. He explains it this way: "99.9 percent of my business is based upon relationships … Someone is looking to me to manage their funds, but they are also looking for someone they can trust, and someone who will take the time and effort on a regular basis to talk about what is going on."

While establishing and retaining these relationships Scott has found that his counseling and education skills have meshed well with his expertise as a Registered Investment Advisor. This combination of skills and vision helps make Sampson Investment Management unique.

Born in Utah, Scott has spent most of his life in the San Francisco Bay area. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1972, attended The Church Divinity School of the Pacific, an Episcopal seminary, for two years, and earned a Masters degree in Counseling. After working as a school psychologist for a decade, he made the transition from education into financial planning, initially working with people in the education field, as well as with non-profit organizations. He earned his Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) designation in 1985.

Scott incorporates his counseling skills into his role as a financial planner and asset manager. In fact, he utilizes the same "people skills" he had used as a school psychologist to help people understand not only the concept of investing, but also the dynamics of emotions and concerns that inevitably occur during and after the decision-making process.
